As far as i am concerned, many metalheads play a different genre as what they listen to at home,but why restrict yourself so much to a specific genre?

I would like to branch out and do everything as much as the next guy, I love almost anything to do with metal, I was planning on being even more than the name suggests. It's just that there are so many people who only limit themselves to the mainstream stuff that they hear names like Emperor and Enslaved and get a little bit of a turn off. The same way I get turned off when someone mentions Bring Me The Horizon or Asking Alexandria. I have a strong distaste for most mainstream stuff with a few exceptions. I tried getting together with one of those BFMV fanboys a couple months ago we could not agree on a damn thing.
