MetalWorks.co launches aiming to become the leading Metal news source in Spanish
Colombian-based website MetalWorks.co was launched last week aiming to fill what they see as a clear gap on the information that Spanish speaking metal followers receive from local news sites. Fabio Rodríguez, founder of the site and long time music lover believes that a professional website that reports on the latest metal news in Spanish has been a clear need for ages.

When asked about the source for news and content for the site, Rodriguez said that their first starting point for collecting the information was the official band sites, their profiles on social networks, and the band members themselves. Unlike most US and European bands, central and south American bands do not necessarily set up a website right from the start, so a source that collects and reports on the happenings of the artists is much needed added Rodriguez.
MetalWorks.co aims to become the leading metal news source in Spanish by providing immediate and accurate information for metal lovers in Latin America.
“For ages Spanish speaking metal fans like myself, have had to rely on international sources to learn about the ins and outs of the music we love. Blogs and other online publications in Spanish have come and go and the ones that stay are not doing a very good job at delivering quality content...” states Rodriguez, 28.
Initially the website will feature local and international news articles on the same ratio but the inhouse team of writers will put efforts on developing a structured way to follow the Latin American heavy music scene.
“One very important source for local news will definitely be band message boards and individual artist profiles on social networks, especially since band members will often post things on there that they wouldn't necessarily include on their official sites and updates. This will be especially useful when it comes to people reporting rumors and things like that, although in general they are probably more time-consuming for our team to go through, we will balance that out with our network of contacts in the industry”.
The site, that already managed to establish a partnership with Brazilian company Metal Media Management, is currently looking for local writers in main markets such as Brazil, Argentina and Chile to provide journalistic content for the entire region.
