Personally, I'd defend metal by saying "this is what I listen to. Its the last frontier of music that is actually played by skilled musicians and not producers with Protools and mixcraft samples. Its the last type of music that actually stands for something and does not judge, reject or diss anyone who wants to listen to it.
Metal has the most diverse and accepting following and remains loyal to the music. Its not about what you wear, or how you look, its just purely all about the fucking music <Period>.
Lastly metal isn't made to make money off of, its made purely because the bands simply want to make music."
And i'd finish up by saying, "if its not what you like, thats fine but I'd expect you to give me the same respect and courtesty when you listen to my music as I do when listening to the sonic bullshit you call pop."
