(just want to speak my mind, and not 100% sure where i'm going with this)

        Lately, more and more people have been picking up the guitar. Many of which are 14-15 year old boys and girls . In a way its pretty awesome that more young people want play music but it doesn't seem that music itself is the reason why they pick up the guitar. Many of these young players pick it up to improve their image among their peers. as a result they start getting egos and talking shit about other guitars player and showing complete disrespect to those that play bass. 
      the growing egos of these people is greatly undeserved. most ot these players will only learn some power chords an bits of songs such metallica's "one","seek and destroy" and " master of puppets", and bits of "stairway to heaven".  They learn how do to just a little bit of playing and now they think they are badasses.  You will often see these types of players trying to show off in front of many and then talking complete BS about those that are better than they are.  These kind of players bring a bad name to others that play this wonderfull instrument of shred.

    If you own a guitar, please don't be one of the guys I described. Learn your scales and chords, and how to read music sheets.  Learning covers are a great way to help to build your technique, but try writing some of your own material.  Write your own solos and songs, it feels great playing something you made it yourself.
