It’s that time of year where Best Of lists seem to overshadow just about everything else on the internet. So for the last Mix of the Week of 2011, we decided to do some recapping of our own with a Spotify playlist of songs that we just couldn’t get enough of over the past twelve months. You’ll find our favorite dance tracks loaded with funky, disco, house, techno and a few pop-leaning genre breakouts in dubstep and moombahton. About halfway in there’s a mini tribute to the hip-hop club highlights that made us drop it low [and birthed a whole slew of catch-phrases and Twitter hashtags]. And what would the year be without wildly addictive pop anthems “Countdown” and “We Found Love?” There are a few surprises in here too; the NguzuNguzu club edit of “Shottas” and a Ramadanman refix of Jamie Woon’s album highlight “Night Air,” for example. In all, this is a crowd-friendly mix that’s made for pre-midnight year-end nostalgia on NYE. And if you prefer dancing all you need to do is turn up the bass on your speakers and add some champagne.
